WRITING WORKSHOPS
Cindy conducts writing workshops for both children and adults and can tailor the length of a presentation to the needs of a group.
-
Workshops for Children. The presentation "Six Steps for Writing a Story" is a high-energy, fun interactive writing activity for children, ideally suited to a group of 10-15. CIndy explains the six steps she uses to create a story; then, using a picture prompt, the group writes an original story together with her. She types the final story and makes it available to each workshop attendee via email. Rates are approximately $20 per child per workshop.
- Workshops for Adults. Cindy has presented enthusiastically received talks and workshops to writing groups around the country. She speaks from her unique perspective on the different needs of the children's trade, educational, and magazine writing markets and also presents a three-session workshop on jump-starting a novel with a focus on writing description, creating characters and conflicts, and writing in scenes. Rates vary.
"Cindy's workshop was a positive and enlightening experience. She offered both an author and an editor's perspective, and her professionalism and caring nature made it worthwhile and enjoyable." --Kim Onufrock-Bracco, Workshop attendee, 2008 Southampton Children's Literature Conference
